The Assembly rejected this Thursday without surprise all the texts presented by the National Group, including the proposal to implement the compulsory school uniform, proof according to Marine Le Pen of the “sectarianism” of other political parties.
The opposition group expected these failures. But he took advantage of his first reserved day, his “parliamentary niche”, to display some of his favorite topics, with the notable exception of immigration, and continue his search for normalization and credibility before public opinion.
Its leader, Marine Le Pen, explained that she wanted above all to show the French that the RN had “respected its promise” by presenting “concrete texts to improve their daily lives.”
A “pitiful” attitude
Texts that, according to her, could have been adopted if the other groups “voted according to their ideas” instead of rejecting them for “sectarianism”. “The objective of the other groups is to try to show that we would be a separate group,” she launched in front of the journalists, denouncing a “pity” attitude.
LR, which has presented similar bills, is the only other group that has supported, in the name of the “general interest”, the compulsory school uniform, a text strongly rejected by the left.
Although some Macronista deputies view the use of the uniform favorably, the presidential camp has spoken out against a text drafted without “serious impact work.”
“It’s an issue that deserves nuance,” said Sylvain Maillard MP, hostile to any generalization, explaining that a working group had been set up within Renaissance on the issue.
“It is the day of bad faith”
The Assembly also earlier rejected a measure aimed at encouraging companies to increase wages by 10% through cuts in employer contributions. LR elected officials abstained, while the majority and the left voted against the proposal, considered ineffective or even dangerous.
No more success, despite the support once again of LR, to the proposal to abolish the low emission zones (ZFE) in the agglomerations, where the circulation of the most polluting vehicles is gradually prohibited.
A request to establish unannounced visitation rights for parliamentarians in nursing homes was also rejected, with other groups worrying in particular about violations of the privacy of vulnerable people. “It is the day of bad faith”, reacted the deputy RN Laure Lavalette.
His colleague Bruno Bilde also criticized the “hypocrisy” of the groups that voted against his proposal to institute proportional representation for the legislative elections, when they are in favor of this method of voting.
