“They want to impose”: Philippe Poutou denounces the attitude of the Government on the pension reform

Former NPA candidate for the presidential elections Philippe Poutou denounces the “cynicism” of the government, which according to him refuses to listen to the protesters against the pension reform.

On the BFMTV set this Sunday, the government spokesman, Olivier Véran, said that the number of protesters against the pension reform “does not change things”: the Executive will approve his project. Words that angered Philippe Poutou a few hours later at the BFMTV microphone.

“When we listen to them, we have the impression that they are puppets. They play, they have fun with us”, denounces the former presidential candidate of the NPA.

“They are playing with a very tough social situation and they know it. There are all the elements for us not to get along and there are all the elements for it to degenerate”, says Philippe Poutou.

“We started the movement well”

“They don’t want to convince, they want to impose,” denounces Philippe Poutou. “’We have the right to demonstrate, but in the end nothing will change’: they say it clearly. They say it even with cynicism, ”he laments.

“We already knew that this was going to happen. It raises the problem of the movement that needs to be hardened, of how we can build a movement that silences them and pushes them back”, continues the former presidential candidate.

Philippe Poutou wants to believe that a victory for the social movement is possible, with the abandonment of the pension reform project. “It is true that we have reasons to doubt, because we lost the last battles,” he admits.

“But we launched the movement well”, underlines Philippe Poutou. More than a million people demonstrated this Thursday against the pension reform throughout France. And the unions are already preparing for the next mobilization date, January 31. Other initiatives should see the light in the meantime, starting this Monday, January 23.
