“Double our efforts”: how Macron wants to accelerate the reduction of CO2 emissions

The Head of State explained France’s goal for 2030: to increase to 270 million tons of CO2 emitted, a decrease of 140 million compared to our current emissions.

“Today we are not there, if we do not change things we will not get there.” In a video posted this Saturday on his Twitter account, Emmanuel Macron spoke about the climate crisis and the need to reduce CO2 emissions.

“Our CO2 emissions are falling. But not fast enough. To succeed, we need to double our efforts,” he said.

“It will be difficult”

The Head of State was speaking at the end of the Ecological Planning Council aimed at achieving the objectives of reducing carbon emissions in France by 2030. “It will be difficult, but together we are capable,” he said.

The objective: to increase to 270 million tons of CO2 emitted in France in 2030, a decrease of 140 million compared to our current emissions. “With ecological planning we are going to carry out what should be much more than a transition: a reconversion”, added Emmanuel Macron, announcing various sectoral measures such as the intensification of the electrification of the automotive fleet.
