Pensions: Besancenot wants the Government to “take your project and throw it away”

“We can win, we must win and we will win,” the NPA spokesman declared on BFMTV-RMC, firmly opposed to the executive’s text.

“We can win, we must win and we will win.” A guest of BFMTV-RMC this Thursday morning, Olivier Besancenot hopes to push the executive back on its pension reform. “The goal is for the government to take its reform and throw it away,” said the spokesman for the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA).

“Upstairs it begins to crack,” greets the former presidential candidate. He projects himself on the possible obstacles that could weaken the executive, questioning: “Will they have a majority in the Assembly? Is it an institutional procedure for it to pass?”

“What works is when the mobilization spreads”

A reference for this last point to 49.3, which allows the government to approve a text without the vote of the deputies. If this key article is used, “it could turn into a political crisis”, anticipates Olivier Besancenot.

To amplify the pressure on the presidential camp, he judges that “what works is when the mobilization spreads.” Who is a postman by profession wants, in this sense, a “broader unity” of the left, from “Nathalie Arthaud (Force Ouvrière) to Olivier Faure”. And to add:

“If we can hold a unitary meeting of the entire left, joint meetings, we are available.”

Even so, the line defended by Olivier Besancenot does not have the approval of all the members of the NPA. The party split in two at the end of its fifth congress in December between a unitary strategy and another that maintains an independent line.
