The next National Convention of BE will take place on May 27 and 28, the blocking coordinator, Catarina Martins, announced this Saturday after the meeting of the National Council of the party that made this decision.
“The National Council has decided to convene the National Convention of the Left Bloc. The XIII National Convention will take place in Lisbon on May 27 and 28. Today the conventional process begins”, Catarina Martins told journalists at the end of the meeting of the highest body between conventions that took place in Lisbon this Saturday.
The XII National Convention of BE, the last major meeting of the party, took place on May 22 and 23, 2021 and was held for the first time in the Porto district, more precisely in Matosinhos.
In the aftermath of the poor electoral results of the last parliamentary elections, with BE no longer the third political force, losing half the vote and being reduced to five deputies, the internal opposition even asked for the national convention to be brought forward, but this has the usual calendar, i.e. it takes place two years apart.
BE then, at the end of April last year, debated its strategic direction at the IVth National Conference, discussing the reorganization of the party and the opposition of the blockades to the absolute majority of the PS.
