The BE coordinator this Saturday criticized Minister João Galamba’s “very unfortunate” sentence on the bonus for the chairman of TAP, who refuses a “state of good people for the elite of privileges”, but who does not respect labor rights “without blink” cuts.
“I cannot but point out the very unfortunate statement of Minister João Galamba when he said that since the state is a good person, it should keep the millionaires’ prizes at TAP”, criticized, in statements to journalists, Catarina Martins, after the meeting of the National Council of BE that took place all day in Lisbon.
the leader of BE referred to Friday’s statements by the Minister of Infrastructure who defended that “the state is a good person” and will comply with what has been agreed regarding TAP’s president’s bonus, if the airline’s restructuring process goes well – successful .
“This state of good people cut TAP workers’ salaries by more than 20%, fired workers, didn’t renew contracts when there was every expectation,” the BE leader condemned.
Therefore, Catarina Martins does not accept “that there is a state of good people for the privileged elite and a state that thinks it can cut off the rights of those who work without even blinking an eye.”
Regarding BE’s proposed Commission of Inquiry into the political oversight of TAP’s management, which was approved in parliament on Friday, the blockist coordinator said he hopes “it can establish clear political responsibilities in the decisions that are made”.
“And that it can be a commission of inquiry that not only evaluates what has been done, but also creates new standards for the way the state behaves in these processes and in public companies,” he defended.
