“Be very careful with your vote on pensions. We are watching it closely.” A few hours before the start of the debates on the pension reform in the National Assembly, Antoine Vermorel-Marques, deputy Les Républicains de la Loire, claims on Twitter that he received this threatening message.
“Regardless of the method, I say it here as I wrote to this individual: my votes can never be influenced by any threat. Never ”, warns the deputy.
Antoine Vermorel-Marques did not reveal the identity of the author of the threatening message. But this incident on the eve of the opening of the debates in the chamber recalls the tensions around this bill.
“You never get used to violence”
The deputy Les Républicains is not the only one who has been the victim of threats. “By email, I received anonymous threats, of course. Death threats, vulgarity… You never get used to violence, aggression, threats,” Renaissance MP Violette Spillebout told RMC.
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, wrote a circular on January 18 -sent to all deputies- asking the authorities to strengthen surveillance around parliamentarians’ offices as well as their homes.
The Minister of the Interior also wants surveillance to be carried out on social networks in order to detect possible threatening messages and invites the security forces to approach all elected officials to inform them of these new protection measures, our colleagues specify. figaro
