On Thursday, the Council of Ministers approved the decree calling for three days of national mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, which will take place on September 18, 19 and 20.
“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland left a deep mark on the second half of the 20th century and the first quarter of the 21st century. The government declares on September 18, 19 and 20 2022 national mourning,” the Council of Ministers justified.
A statement said the decree of three days of national mourning is a “just tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II”.
One of the days of national mourning coincides with the day of the British monarch’s state funeral, which will take place on Monday and in which Portugal will be represented by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
