Pension reform: Nupes announces withdrawing “a thousand amendments” to the Assembly

The left-wing deputies of the Nupes announced during a press conference in the National Assembly that they would withdraw “a thousand amendments” so that article 2 of the pension reform can be voted on Monday night.

The left-wing Nupes coalition announced on Monday night to withdraw “a thousand amendments” to advance the review of the pension reform, while the presidential camp continues to denounce “obstruction.”

The left hopes to finish article 2 on the “senior index” by night, an indicator to encourage companies to employ older workers. Nupes had begun removing amendments prior to Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne’s call for the “withdrawal” of the “obstruction” amendments. There were still more than 14,000 amendments on the counter after the Nupes announcement.
