Pensions: Sandrine Rousseau justifies the withdrawal by the Nupes of a thousand amendments to the Assembly

On BFMTV, the environmentalist deputy Sandrine Rousseau explained why the Nupes decided to withdraw many amendments to the National Assembly, a week after the start of the examination of the bill.

Turn around. The Nupes decided, on Monday night, to withdraw a thousand amendments to the National Assembly to speed up the review of the pension reform. However, left-wing groups, in particular LFI, have claimed in recent days “parliamentary obstruction” to the Government’s text, which provides for the postponement of the legal retirement age to 64 years.

On the BFMTV set, Sandrine Rousseau, an EELV deputy, justified this withdrawal of a thousand amendments. A decision, which allows, according to her, to have a “real debate on alternatives to financing” the reform in the coming days.

After a week of debate, the deputies are only in article 2 of the text, which deals with the senior index. “We withdrew a thousand amendments tonight because nothing has happened in the senior index. Nothing at all,” explains Sandrine Rousseau.

“We presented amendments to be the owners of time, to be able to control time and ensure that the street has time to function and that we create that kind of homogeneity between the street and the Assembly”, recalls the deputy.

Discuss the financing of the reform

But the union intends to extend the school holidays and intensify the social movement from March 7, according to information from BFMTV. Above all, the leaders of the main unions, Laurent Berger for the CFDT and Philippe Martinez for the CGT, want the National Assembly to debate article 7, which protects the postponement of the legal retirement age.

However, the objective of this first withdrawal of a thousand amendments is different, says Sandrine Rousseau. “If we find solutions to the prescriptions and we can pass prescription amendments, then there will be no need for Article 7.”

But the green parliamentarian “is not at all afraid” of a vote on the postponement of the legal retirement age to 64 years. “If we win it, that’s great, but even if we lose it, we have already seen in political history that important texts are withdrawn after the vote”, he explains, citing in particular the example of the CPE.
