The PSD announced on Tuesday that it will ask the TAP Commission of Inquiry for all communications, internal and external, from the government on the Alexandra Reis case, as well as the preliminary report of the General Inspectorate of Finance on the matter.
“The PSD today presented a wide variety of documents that we would divide into three groups: one pertaining to TAP and its management, key management documents, accounts reports, minutes, deliberations, contracts. Another pertaining to employees, compensation, benefits and the Alexandra Reis case, and a third on TAP’s relationship with third parties, namely with Parpública and the government”summarized PSD deputy Paulo Rios de Oliveira in statements to journalists.
Specifically on the case of former Secretary of State Alexandra Reis, who received compensation of 500 thousand euros to leave TAP, according to the deputy there is “a set of documents that are very relevant” that the PSD and all parliamentary groups. “But also very important is the communication inside and outside the government, that is, the communication between the two ministries with direct or indirect supervision of TAP – Infrastructure and Finance – but also all relationships that existed not only between members of the Government, but also members of the directorates and bureaus of the respective ministries with TAP and what emerged from these meetings and the various communications”, detailed.
According to Paulo Rios de Oliveira, “as already shown” there are “absolutely fundamental communications formulated in very unusual ways given the seriousness of what was at stake, namely the use of WhatsApp or others”. “In this case and in this committee of inquiry, the facts are not so much at stake because we know them. What matters is how this was possible, how someone left it, how someone knew and did nothing, how nobody knows it and most importantly how did these protagonists all get the outcome or outcomes – because there are several mishaps – here”he said.
For the PSD deputy “it is necessary to understand how the will was created, what information occurred between the different protagonists, namely in the political tutelage”. “We fear – and we don’t want that to happen – that everything will end with punishing those who failed functionally. Those who failed functionally will have to be punished and evaluated in that perspective. And those who failed politically? retract the facts, consequences”he explained.
The request submitted by the PSD to the political oversight of TAP’s board within the framework of the parliamentary committee of inquiry is part of 42 documents, subdivided into requests to TAP, the government and Parpública.
