Femicide: Borne supports parliamentarians’ proposal for a 24-hour protection order

The prime minister, a guest on France 5, acknowledged “failures” in the systems established by the government to protect victims of domestic violence.

“We can rebel when we see these tragedies.” Invited this Monday night on the set of C à Vous de France 5, Élisabeth Borne was questioned about the issue of femicides in France. 26 women have been killed in France under the blows of their spouse or ex-spouse since the beginning of the year.

“Unfortunately there are still failures in the systems, which we must try to correct,” acknowledged the head of government, who claimed to have “acted in recent years training police and gendarmes” collecting complaints.

“I remember two things: regarding the protection orders, we shortened the deadlines to 1 week, I remember the fact of going towards 24 hours, a decision in 24 hours without contradiction to activate the protection immediately”, continued Élisabeth Borne, also retaining the establishment. of “specialized centers in each court to be able to better attend to domestic violence”.

At the beginning of February, the deputies unanimously voted for a text to promote protection orders, while extending their period of validity.
