Uncertainty hovered. Were Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron going to board a bus reserved for leaders of different countries to go to Westminster Abbey and attend the funeral of Elizabeth II? Response from the Elysee: The Head of State and his wife did indeed take this bus and arrived at 11 am (French time) at the place of the ceremony.
They followed official instructions recommending using this coach for international leaders and leaving their personal vehicles in West London. These buses were proposed for reasons of organization and safety, and not for energy sobriety.

A different matter, therefore, from the flights of international leaders. On this subject, the British Foreign Office had sent an official document to world leaders, encouraging them to sober up on their journey to attend the Queen’s funeral on Monday 19th September.
A recommendation not respected by Emmanuel Macron, who took a plane from the presidency to go to London, in particular to respect a very tight agenda in the coming days. His American counterpart, Joe Biden, for his part, used his own mode of transportation from end to end. He thus crossed the Atlantic aboard his presidential plane Air Force One before moving, once in London, in his traditional armored vehicle, nicknamed “The Beast”.
