Bolieiro is committed to being a benchmark for stability in governance in the Azores

The president of the government of the Azores promised to be a “stability reference” this Wednesday, after the deputies of the Liberal Initiative (IL) and independent (former Chega) signed the parliamentary advocacy agreement with the executive regional (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) .

“We will continue to follow the government’s program. It was the basis for guaranteeing stability and confirmation for this alternative of governance and the variety implemented. This is my commitment,” José Manuel Boleiro (PSD) told CNN television.

Asked about the decision of deputies Nuno Barata (IL) and Carlos Furtado (elected independently by Chega), the head of the Azores government began by saying that he “cannot take on the responsibilities of others” and recalled that he “from the first moment”, a “benchmark of stability and an opportunity to assert an alternative governance for the Azores after 24 years of absolute PS power”.

Bolieiro said he is still not afraid of early elections because he is “a democrat” and “the popular judgment is that he is sovereign”.

“I want to inform the Portuguese, and the Azores in particular, and the democrats that I intend, as President of the Government, to be a reference of stability and affirmation of a governance that changes the paradigm to better develop the Azores “, he said. reconfirmed.

“I have always been and will continue to be a factor and measure of stability,” he stressed, adding that the interests of the Autonomous Region of the Azores “are predominant.”

The three parties that make up the regional government (PSD, CDS-PP and PPM) have 26 deputies in the Legislative Assembly and now only have the parliamentary support of deputy Do Chega, representing 27 seats.

Previously, with the parliamentary support of the independent deputy and the elected liberal initiative, they had 29 mandates, allowing the executive to rule with an absolute majority.

The opposition now has 30 deputies, compared to 28 before.

The Legislative Assembly of the Azores consists of 57 deputies and in the current term there are 25 from the PS, 21 from the PSD, three from the CDS-PP, two from the PPM, two from the BE, one from the Liberal Initiative, one from PAN, one from Chega and an independent deputy (elected by Chega).
