Prime Minister “must draw consequences” from Marcelo’s “very sharp criticism”.

“It is important for the Portuguese to realize that they have a president of the republic who says that the majority is warmed up and tired,” said Paulo Rangel, emphasizing that “this is a very strong criticism of the government and of which, of course, , the prime minister must draw consequences”.

The PSD Vice President spoke on the sidelines of a dinner in Câmara de Lobos, in the west of Madeira, in the context of the 1st Social Democratic Interparliamentary Meeting, commenting on the interview with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

“The President of the Republic had a very realistic interview, showing that we are dealing, as he himself said, with a warmed-up and tired majority.which is exhausted after a year, as evidenced by the series of issues that the president treated with tremendous detail and with a very keen critical sense,” he said, citing as examples housing, education, health, TAP and the recovery and resilience plan .

Paulo Rangel felt that the phrase ‘solicited and weary majority’ “could not be clearer”, emphasizing that “the words with which the President of the Republic opened his interview say everything about the situation in the country”.

The PSD vice president also highlighted Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s position on TAP, as it points to the “political weakening” of the finance minister.

Regarding the possibility of the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic, he stated that “the PSD is prepared”.

“There is no doubt that when the time comes, the PSD will of course be even better prepared than it is now,” he stressed.
