Pension reform: Jordan Bardella evokes “discussions” about a motion of no confidence common to the oppositions

The president of the National Group says that the opposition is currently discussing a possible motion of no confidence, while the text on pensions was voted on Saturday by the Senate.

Jordan Bardella spoke this Sunday of “discussions” in the National Assembly about a possible motion of no confidence common to the oppositions if the Government chose to use article 49.3 to approve its pension reform.

“Today there are discussions in the National Assembly” about a common vote of no confidence, indicates the president of the National Group (RN) in the program Political Questions France Inter/franceinfo/Le Monde.

“The government has possibilities of falling”, still waits, while the Senate voted on the text on pensions on Saturday. Now it must be examined by a joint committee.

Several motions of censure already presented by the RN

“It is in the interest of all French people, of the French social model, that the opposition may agree to present a vote of no confidence that will bring down the government if 49.3 is elected,” the far-right official added. .

“This reform has no guarantee of approval” because “Emmanuel Macron and Élisabeth Borne do not have a majority,” said Jordan Bardella, whose party has already submitted motions of no confidence but which have never been voted on by other opposition groups.

The text adopted through a 49.3?

The Government can, in its pension reform project, take refuge in article 49.3 of the Constitution, which allows the approval of the text without a vote but with the risk of a motion of censure.

But this is not the hypothesis favored at this stage by the executive, which has the right to approve its text by vote.

“Demonstrating is a necessity,” said Jordan Bardella once again about the mobilization of the unions, which are planning an eighth day of demonstrations for Wednesday. The head of the RN never personally took to the streets, but he always supported these demonstrations.
