All means are good to defend the pension reform. This Monday, Éric Woerth, Renaissance deputy for Oise, believes in Europe 1 that not voting on this bill would be equivalent to acting “to the detriment of the nation”.
The defector from the Les Républicains (LR) party, also a former labor minister and supporter of a pension reform in 2010, spoke earlier with deputies from his former political family.
“General interest”
These are undecided. Some, between the ages of 15 and 20, remain impervious to the Macronist sirens, particularly over disagreements over long careers. Despite the government’s concessions, they could vote against the bill or abstain.
For Éric Woerth, these elected officials, of whom Aurélien Pradié is the figurehead, are involved in “personal adventures to the detriment of the general interest, to the detriment of the State, the nation, retirees, the young generations.” He insists: “It’s a lot.”
“I think we can achieve a majority”
The support, or not, of these deputies will be decisive if the pension reform is voted on – and not submitted before – to 49.3. The presidential field must obtain around forty votes in the ranks of the right. Like the government, Eric Woerth is confident. “I think we can achieve a majority if we keep arguing,” said the 60-year-old.
And if it were not so? The 49.3 “would not be an admission of weakness”, judge Éric Woerth. “It would be, on the contrary, a ‘confession of realism and pragmatism’, according to him. “It is the confession that you are a relative majority, that it is very difficult to work like this […] and that we need to have a partnership with other deputies,” he said.
