A 49.3 vote by the government in the National Assembly on the pension reform would be a “blatant demonstration of the failure of this government.” On the sidelines of a press conference on the nuclear bill, the president of the National Association group, Marine Le Pen, spoke about a possible entry into force of the government to approve its controversial reform.
“The question is: will there be a 49.3? I can not answer you. It would seem crazy to me,” said the former party president.
But above all, Marine Le Pen announced that “if the government uses 49.3”, her party will present “a motion of no confidence and we will vote on all the motions of no confidence that may be presented.”
A cross-partisan motion of no confidence in “discussion”
This Sunday, the new president of RN Jordan Bardella precisely mentioned “discussions” in the National Assembly about a possible motion of censure common to oppositions if the government chooses to use section 49.3 to promote his pension reform.
“The government has a chance of falling,” he told France Inter. while the Senate voted on Saturday the text on pensions. It now must be examined by a joint joint committee, which begins on Wednesday.
If the government opted for 49.3, the Nupes already announced that it would present a motion of censure, like the RN. A cross-party vote of no confidence, including LR deputies, could reach enough votes to overthrow the government. For his part, Emmanuel Macron has already warned that in the event of a vote of no confidence he would dissolve the Assembly.
