The PSD president said this Thursday that “the big news” from the polls was the loss of the PS’s voting intentions for “the political space of the right”, defending that this is where the Social Democrats should head. to vote.
In his opening speech at the PSD group meeting, which takes place behind closed doors, Luís Montenegro made no reference to the alliance policy or the current political framework in the Azores, according to reports to Lusa.
In the final part of his speech, the PSD chairman advised Social Democrats not to worry too much about the polls, but said there are trends that need to be analysed.
At the time, he considered that “the most important change” in the panorama of voting intentions was a “significant loss of confidence” of the Portuguese in the PS, in the order of 13, 14 or 15 points, compared to previous year. elections.
Regarding the results of the PSD in the polls, Luís Montenegro defended that they show that “gradually, consistently, ‘step by step’ [passo a passo]the party is on the rise, although it admits it is not seen by many Portuguese as an alternative to the PS.
“The good news for us is that we can see in one fell swoop that the PS is weaker and that the PS’s weakness is moving voting intentions into the political space on the right”he said.

In his speech, Montenegro also appealed to the proactivity of the deputies, praising their achievements, for example in the housing measures presented, including topics such as the Commission of Inquiry into TAP or the constitutional revision.
