Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa believed this Saturday that the refusal of some measures of the Mais Habitação program by the regional government of Madeira should be considered and subject to talks with the national executive.
“The degrees are at a stage where all this is definitely being considered,” he said, before adding, “Let’s wait for that weigh-in.”
The President of the Republic spoke on arrival in Madeira, where on Saturday he will participate in the closing of the Congress of Portuguese Judges and in the inauguration of the regional delegation of SEDES – Association for Economic and Social Development in Funchal.
“Let’s wait and see what the overall picture is [do Programa Mais Habitação]even because there are other alternative proposals”, disse, relaunched that several PSD initiatives were recently enabled in the Assembly of the Republic, which went to the committee to be the subject of conversions with the government and the PS.
The Government of Madeira (PSD/CDS-PP) has already informed the Head of State and the Prime Minister that it defends a regional “specific solution” and rejects some measures of the Mais Habitação program, namely the mechanism of forced renting of vacant houses, the conditioning of the activity of local accommodation services and the end of the program of residence permits for investment activity (ARI), commonly known as ‘golden’ visas.
The regional government’s position was reflected in three resolutions that were approved on Thursday and have since been sent to the prime minister.
The housing issue should be discussed with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa during the dinner that will take place this Saturday at Quinta Vigia, the seat of the Presidency of the Regional Government.
