“Everything depends on the vote of my Republican friends who are hostile to this text.” This is how the deputy of the Marne, Charles de Courson, summarizes the fate of the inter-party motion of no confidence presented by his group Libertés Indépendants, Outre-mer et Territoires (Liot) and signed jointly by the left-wing groups.
It is very simple: this provision will only be approved this Monday afternoon in the chamber if it collects the votes of the right, in addition to those of the left, of the deputies of the National Association and the Liot group.
More precisely, around thirty LR votes are needed to achieve an absolute majority (287 votes). At the moment, BFMTV has had 8 deputies from the right-wing group officially announce the vote on the motion, including the LR deputy for Lot Aurélien Pradié. The general counter is now at 263 deputies voting in favor.
A guest of France Inter, Charles de Courson recalls that some thirty LR deputies wanted to vote against the text last Thursday, if the government had not interrupted the debates using 49.3.
“The only way to stop the social and political crisis”
If they all vote in favor of the motion of no confidence, it can pass. Everything is in the hands of these thirty Republican representatives who are hostile to this reform, and rightly so,” said the centrist representative.
This connoisseur of the Assembly, a deputy elected without interruption since 1993, calls on these right-wing elected officials to “fight to the end.” For him, this vote of no confidence is “the only way to stop the social and political crisis in this country.”
“If we continue like this, no one is going to control anything,” warns the elected, noting in passing the statements of the union leaders. “Everyone tells us, radicalization is on the way.”
According to Charles de Courson, the responsibility for this situation lies with Emmanuel Macron. “The government did not want to officially use 49.3 and did so by order of the President of the Republic,” said the parliamentarian.
Emphasizing that a “majority of deputies [étaient] against the text”, judges that 49.3 was used to “overlook the hostility of the people’s representatives”.
