Pensions: Charles de Courson accuses Elisabeth Borne of having “hijacked the spirit of the Constitution” with a 49.3

The deputy accused the Prime Minister of “not having known how to unite and convince”, which led her to “give in to the easy way to avoid the sanction of the vote”, during the examination of the motions of censure in the National Assembly, this Monday.

The examination of the motions of censure began in the National Assembly in an electric atmosphere. The deputy for the Marne, Charles de Courson, the first to speak on behalf of the Liot group, accused Elisabeth Borne of having “hijacked the spirit of the Constitution”. The government “has used every possible maneuver to circumvent and constrain the parliamentary debate to distort the proceedings.”

According to him, the executive “deliberately opted for this procedure [projet de loi de financement rectificative de la sécurité sociale, ndlr] prepare for a possible forced passage”.

This procedure “has facilitated the use of an eleventh 49.3 in one year”, he continued, emphasizing that “it frames and constrains the examination deadlines, making any serene and in-depth debate impossible”.

“As a result, the Assembly only examined two articles, and also rejected article 2 by a large majority, despite everything sent to the Senate by the government.”

“At the beginning of the examination of the pension bill, we talked about the denial of democracy, recalled Charles de Courson, at the podium.

Terminal “could not be charged”

Charles de Courson stated that the decision to file a motion of no confidence “was not taken lightly”, adding: “Our group warned them.”

The deputy also accused Elisabeth Borne of having “failed to gather and convince”, which led her to “give in to the easy way to avoid sanctioning the vote”. “In reality, nothing forced you to 49.3, courage, respect for the institutions, respect for your commitments should have led to the vote. Even the majority groups wanted to vote,” she explained before launching:

“This vote, most likely, you would have lost, but it is the rule in a democracy,” added the parliamentarian.

“How to accept such contempt for Parliament? How to accept such examination conditions on a text that will have lasting effects on the lives of millions of patriots?”, he concluded, before continuing to speak but seeing his microphone cut off, a few moments later.
