Elisabeth Borne saved with 9 votes. The National Assembly examined on Monday two motions of censure against the Government after the activation of 49.3 to approve its pension reform without a vote of the deputies.
The transversal motion, led by the Liot group (Libertas, Independientes de Ultramar y Territorios), did not reach the 287 votes necessary for its approval. she collected 278 votes in favor, insufficient threshold to overthrow the government and reject the pension reform.
This motion, co-signed by Nupes MPs, was however voted on by MPs from a large part of the political spectrum, including LR MPs.

Thirty LR, half of Olivier Marleix’s group, would have had to join their votes to those of Nupes, Agrupación Nacional and Liot. However, the party’s president, Éric Ciotti, officially supported the reform, saying the week before that he did not want to “add chaos to chaos” by toppling the government.
The National Association had also presented a motion of censure, which was also rejected. The rejection of these motions will be worth the final approval of the reform, before its promulgation by the Head of State.
The opposition has probably not had its last word: some parliamentarians last week mentioned a shared initiative referendum and Liot Charles de Courson MP predicted on Tuesday on RMC-BFMTV “several calls to the Constitutional Council against this text” if it is voted on.
