In the end, 19 of 61 Republican deputies voted in favor of the interparty motion of no confidence against the government on Monday night. A vote that will not have been enough for it to be adopted, but it was closer than announced.
Indeed, a total of 278 deputies voted in favor of this motion of no confidence, out of the 287 needed to overthrow the government of Elisabeth Borne. This adoption depended in particular on the votes of the deputies Les Républicains, because 237 votes from the Nupes and the RN were already secured.
However, the president of the right-wing party Eric Ciotti had assured this Thursday that the LR deputies would not vote on “any motion of censure.” Words reinforced by the president of the group in the National Assembly who assured this Monday, minutes before the vote, that his deputies “would not vote on the motions of censure.”
Pradié, Brun, Cinieri voted for
Finally, Emmanuelle Anthoine, Jean-Yves Bony, Ian Boucard, Fabrice Brun, Dino Cinieri, Pierre Cordier, Josiane Corneloup, Vincent Descoeur, Fabien Di Filippo, Julien Dive, François Dubois, Pierre-Henri Dumont, Justine Gruet, Maxime Minot, Aurélien Pradié, Raphaël Schellenberger, Isabelle Valentin, Pierre Vatin and Jean-Pierre Vigier voted in favor of the motion of no confidence.
Some had already announced their vote, such as Aurélien Pradié or Maxime Minot. Others less expected, such as Dino Cienieri, close to Eric Ciotti, or even close to Xavier Bertrand and Laurent Wauquiez, such as Jean-Pierre Vigier or Fabrice Brun.
