Marcelo issues Decent Work Agenda, but remains alert

This Wednesday, the President of the Republic promulgated the “decree of the Assembly of the Republic amending the Labor Code and related legislation, within the framework of the decent work agenda”.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa decided for the adoption, although the decree “deviates in some respects from the agreement signed by the government with the social partners and enshrines certain solutions that may have an effect on the labor market that is contrary to the alleged intended effect”, warned the head of state in the note on the website of the presidency of the republic.

Taking into account “the many positive aspects of the diploma, as well as the fact that it was supported by a large majority of parliament, either voting in favor or abstaining, namely the largest opposition party”, Marcelo Rebelo chose de Sousa to award the diploma.
