PCP secretary-general Paulo Raimundo said this Friday that the reduction in VAT on essential goods is an “apparently positive” measure, but defended that what determines prices falling is their enactment and control.
“We do not deny this possibility of reducing VAT, namely on essential goods, but one thing we know. What determines […]and it is necessary and urgent, that the prices of essential goods fall, is to fix and control prices”said Paulo Raimundo.

It is public money, tax breaks, but there is no single measure that attacks what needs to be addressed. to attack are the obscene, embarrassing profits of large corporations and especially large retailers.he defended.
Regarding the 30 euros for the most needy families, Paulo Raimundo said that he did not deny this need, but pointed out that the problem is “that the bills are not paid every three months, but every day”.
“What the people need is not specific support, it is wage increases for all workers”strengthens.
As for the 1% increase in civil servants’ salaries, the PCP secretary-general said he agreed “but not as the government proposes”.
“We are facing a situation where, while the vast majority of our people are pushed into poverty and these measures are not going to change that fundamental problem, there are 11 million euros of profit per day for large companies. deep justice that must come to an end”to maintain.
In his speech, Paulo Raimundo, on the other hand, stressed that the Legislative Assembly of Madeira needs more PCP deputies, arguing that it is the communist party that is “on the side of the workers”.
In turn, the PCP coordinator, Edgar Silva, told the approximately 400 militants and sympathizers who took part in the dinner several times that the CDU candidacy is “the only defender of April’s values”.
