The PS parliamentary leader said on Tuesday that the socialists had approved more than 200 hearings with government members and 40 opposition legislative initiatives, 50% of the total, helping to reconcile the Portuguese with the outright majorities.
This data was passed on by Eurico Brilhante Dias at the opening of the second and last day of the PS parliamentary days, in Tomar, Santarém district, which will be closed by the Prime Minister, António Costa.
Wednesday marks a year since the start of the legislature and according to Eurico Brilhante Dias, the Socialist Group has approved more than 200 parliamentary hearings with members of the government during this period, despite an absolute majority.
“Every two days there was a government member in parliament. Two-thirds of the requests for government members to come to parliament were positively approved by the PS party”he pointed it out.
The leader of the PS bank then tried to emphasize the idea that his parliamentary group had contributed over the past year to strengthening the role of parliament as an institution of political control over the government and also to strengthening the dialogue between parties.
“In Portuguese society, the idea arose that absolute majorities are arrogant, do not engage in dialogue, are unable to understand what surrounds them and are closed in on themselves”orphan.

In terms of legislation produced in parliament since the beginning of the legislature, according to data from Eurico Brilhante Dias, the PS has “approved 98 proposals and bills”.
“Out of these 98, one of them by citizens, 35 bills were widely approved, 14 PS projects and 49 opposition initiatives. That is to say, 50% of the generally approved legislative initiatives came from the opposition. The chairman of the PS group also defended that the socialist bank “approved numerous resolution projects”.
