Successive parliamentary hearings. Gérald Darmanin is expected Wednesday morning in the National Assembly for a hearing on “law enforcement management.” He will immediately confront the senators over the violent clashes that took place on March 25 between protesters and the police in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres).
The first hearing of the Minister of the Interior will begin at 9 am this Wednesday before the Law Commission of the National Assembly.
Police response criticized by the left
These hearings are organized while the left criticizes the police response to the demonstrations against the pension reform and during the demonstration against the “mega-basins” in Sainte-Soline.
On Thursday night, demonstrations were organized in front of the prefectures across the country “against the repression in Sainte-Soline” and “police violence” in the demonstrations against the pension reform.
A petition to dissolve the BRAV-M
A citizen petition was also launched on the website of the National Assembly to demand the “dismantling” of the BRAV-M, police units at the center of criticism. It had collected more than 220,000 signatures on Friday.
The Legal Commission “will study for the second time the admissibility of the request for the dissolution of BRAV-M in the coming weeks,” its president Sacha Houlié said on Tuesday.
In the Senate, the hearing of the Minister of the Interior is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., focused on “the events that occurred in Sainte-Soline on March 25.” It will be broadcast live on the Senate website.
