PSD wants transparency committee to comment on deputy PS in meeting with CEO

The PSD will ask the Transparency Committee for comment on the presence of the Socialist Coordinator of the TAP Commission of Inquiry, Carlos Pereira, at a meeting with the company’s executive president on the eve of the parliamentary hearing in January.

During the interrogation of Alexandra Reis, which is taking place in the TAP Commission of Inquiry, the PSD Coordinator, Paulo Moniz, announced the delivery of a request related to the meeting that took place on January 17, the day before Christine Ourmières left for Widener to the Committee on Economy, Public Works, Spatial Planning and Housing and in which elements of the ministries were present and, as far as known, PS deputy Carlos Pereira.

The PSD will “in the coming days” submit a request to the Committee on Transparency and Statute of Deputies “to assess compliance with the provisions of paragraph 6 of Article 6 of the Statutory Regime of Parliamentary Investigations and paragraph f) of Article 14 (1) of the Statute of Members, in conjunction with Article 4 of the Code of Conduct”.

Regarding the legal regime of parliamentary inquiries, the PSD refers to the fact that it is “a condition of taking up office as a member of the committee, including alternate members, a formal declaration that there is no conflict of interest in relation to the subject matter of the inquiry , as well as the undertaking of exemption upon the determination of the facts under investigation”.

With regard to the Statute of Deputies, the PSD refers, under the duties of parliamentarians, to the point where they “shall apply the provisions of this Statute and other related legislation, of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of the Republic and other deliberations of the latter which applicable laws, as well as contributions to good parliamentary practice in accordance with the Code of Conduct”.

“Deputies shall freely exercise their mandate, under the terms of the Constitution and the law, respecting their electoral obligations, acting conscientiously and acting independently with regard to any natural or legal person”, the article of the Code of Conduct in question states. .

To move forward with this request in the parliamentary committee, the PSD requested that “with priority” the minutes of the hearing of the executive chairman of TAP be retrieved, as well as the export of the audio of the meeting.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Christine Ourmières-Widener identified the PS deputy and coordinator in the investigative committee, Carlos Pereira, as one of those present at the aforementioned January 17 meeting.

At the end of the hearing, Carlos Pereira told journalists it was a natural procedure to “share information”.
