“No one will leave at 64 before the end of this term”: the “bet” of a deputy from the majority

According to Patrick Vignal, a review clause will take place in 2027 during the presidential and legislative elections.

A bold prognosis. While an eleventh day of mobilization against the pension reform takes place this Thursday, Patrick Vignal, Renaissance deputy for the 9th arrondissement of Hérault, estimated on Wednesday evening on BFMTV that the application of the lowering of the retirement age you will have a hard time getting in. place, and that according to him, this disputed reform will be undone little by little.

“The review clause is tomorrow”

“In 2027, my colleague Jean-Philippe Tanguy (RN deputy for the Somme, also present on the set of BFMTV, editor’s note) will offer the French a retirement at 60, LFI will offer, through Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a retirement at 62 years and 40 years. The review clause is tomorrow,” he said, referring to the 2027 presidential election.

“I bet no one will be leaving at 64 before this term is up,” he predicted.

The 2027 deadline had already been mentioned by Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne, who assured last January that “there is a review clause by nature, which is the presidential election and the legislative elections.”

“If we can introduce the fact that there will be, for example, in transparency, a stage point about where we are in the return to balance of our system, we can have this debate in Parliament,” he added, while rebutting an admission of weakness or doubts about the need for a pension reform.

Due in 2027

According to Patrick Vignal, the government’s mistakes were multiple. In particular, he pointed out a method problem. “The real debate is that we reversed things, we had to talk about work, burnout, discomfort at work, the elderly, and we didn’t have time to do it,” he developed.

According to him, it is important to see the evolution of the world of work, “professions will change in twenty years”, but also to find a compromise with the unions.

“In France we don’t know how to find ways of convergence, we have to find a way out and everyone goes out the front door,” concluded Patrick Vignal.

Given the spontaneous demonstrations organized in the streets of Paris and other provincial towns at the end of March, the deputy called to “suspend” the pension reform.
