Emmanuel Macron shows a sharp drop in popularity with 25% of French people “trusting” him, a score that falls to 22% for Elisabeth Borne, the worst for a Matignon tenant since 2017, according to an Elabe survey.
The confidence index of the Head of State has lost 7 points in one month, the biggest drop since his first election.
His unpopularity record of December 2018 (23%), in the midst of the “yellow vest” crisis, however, has not been reached.
Distrust increases
Similarly, distrust of the President of the Republic is increasing: 71% (+8 points), including 43% of French respondents who do not trust him “at all”, a score that “remains below the record of December 2018, where more than half of the French said they had no confidence in him with 51%,” says the polling institute.
Emmanuel Macron shows a notable drop in confidence among his voters in the first round of 2022: 68%, a drop of 13 points.
Elisabeth Borne collects only 22% of positive opinions (-4 points), the worst score of Emmanuel Macron’s prime ministers since 2017, while 69% (+6 points) of the French do not trust him to face the big ones problems facing the country.
Survey carried out online from April 3 to 5 with a sample of 1,000 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, using the quota method. Margin of error between 1.4 and 3.1 points.
