TAP: Ventura asks Montenegro to file a censure motion with the government

Chega’s president on Monday called on the leader of the PSD to submit a censure motion to the government, saying there is a “permanent and clear degradation of the institutions” and that there is a “zero degree of politics” has been achieved.

This call was made by André Ventura during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Lisbon, as the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of the Republic stipulate that if a motion of censure is not passed, its signatories cannot introduce a new one. one in the same legislature – and both Chega and the Liberal Initiative have already done so in the current session.

“I appeal to Luís Montenegro to urgently introduce a motion of censure to the government of António Costa, registering Chega’s commitment that if the PSD does not do this, we will introduce it in the first days of September. [início da próxima sessão legislativa]”insured.

Regarding the ability of right-wing parties to provide an alternative to the current government, Ventura replied: “There is always an alternative, and the fear of an alternative we don’t like is always better than the morass of institutions and depraved corruption we see.”

The leader of Chega commented on the statements made to Lusa this Monday morning by the Prime Minister, António Costa, who took very seriously the email sent by former Secretary of State Hugo Mendes to the Executive President of TAP suggesting the postponement . of a trip on the plane the Head of State was to travel on, stating that the situation would have led to the immediate resignation of the Secretary of State.

“We are at zero point in terms of politics, confidence in institutions and at zero point in terms of stability. Under normal circumstances, this government would have already been dismissed by the President of the Republic”he claimed.

According to Ventura, only Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa can “put an end” to this situation, forcing Parliament to tell the president “that he thinks this is the right way to go”.

“As long as only Chega and the Liberal Initiative go around saying this is the right way to go, and the PSD is half on one side and half on the other, the president will always feel like the ground is shaking and the ground is not very stable. The challenge I’m doing here is: let’s show that the ground on the right is stable”challenged.
