TAP: SPAC Points to “Embarrassing” Revelations in Commission of Inquiry That “Give Reason for the Warnings”

The Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (SPAC) took note of the “shameful revelations to say the least” made during TAP’s Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (CPI), noting that “they come to justify the warnings” the union has issued in the has done over the years.

In a statement sent to its members, which Lusa accessed this Monday, SPAC “rejects the statements of the former administrator [Alexandra Reis] regarding her responsibility for hypothetical aviation accidents at TAP, recalling that Alexandra Reis was never ‘Accountable Manager’ or ‘Nominated Post Holder'”.

Likewise, the union says that “it is good to know” that according to Alexandra Reis, those responsible for the safety of air operations “should be compensated and therefore compensated, in accordance with this enormous responsibility”, adding that it will be taken into account in the ongoing negotiations on the company agreement.

The union emphasizes that pilots are “ultimately responsible” for the safe conduct of flights.

The SPAC also condemned the former administrator’s behavior during the collective dismissal process and sponsoring the “unfair and even illegal algorithm proposed by the BCG adviser”.

In the document, the union also recalled the compensation of 500,000 euros paid to Alexandra Reis for her departure from the company, which was “paid indefinitely and in one lump sum”, instead of the compensation paid for terminations by mutual consent , whose determination was that “they must be fractionated in time and they have a maximum limit”.

In general, the SPAC states that the airline has suffered from the “abusive and ignorant” interference of its rulers, leaving the company with “several problems”.

“The general public is now beginning to understand these issues, but TAP employees have been drawing attention to them for years”says the union.

In this sense, he even believes that “TAP’s greatest evil is its easy mismanagement”.

“It allows toxic relations between rulers and executive managers, leading to shady and fatal companies, erratic operational management options, as well as the assignment of positions to ‘guys’ of the system, and their exchange, and even the hiring of millionaire advisers. legal”shot down the union, which insists TAP’s leaders “appear to be above the law”.

Still on bad governance, SPAC recalls the “caricatured business of cargo planes that caused losses in excess of 40 million” and laments that TAP is a financially weakened company that “could be economically viable were it not for the capital of irresponsible destruction of management-created value”.

“TAP is a public company that is vital to Portugal, and it is crucial that management is efficient, responsible and respectful of the employees”asked the union, which says it is determined “to fight for these values”.

The framework also calls for an end to “political interference” and “irresponsible management” at the airline.
