TAP’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Manuel Beja, said on Tuesday that the CMVM had opened a case against the company over communications about the departure of former CEO Alexandra Reis.
“I received information about an hour before this hearing that the CMVM will have opened a case against TAP,” replied Manuel Beja to PSD Representative Hugo Carneiro, in the TAP Commission of Inquiry.
The still ‘chairman’ of the airline said he did not yet know the contents of the notification, because he received it when he was on his way to the Assembly of the Republic.
It concerns TAP’s statement to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM) when Alexandra Reis left the company, in which the company reported that the administrator had resigned from her position to face new challenges.
After the compensation of 500,000 euros received by Alexandra Reis was known, the former administrator explained in a note sent to Lusa that the departure was the result of an initiative by TAP.
Later, the company sent a new communication to the CMVM confirming that the departure was voluntary.
Manuel Beja also stressed that the content of the first communiqué has been negotiated by the lawyers of both parties.
