PS asks TAP and CMVM for documents regarding Alexandra Reis’ departure

In a request to the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the board of TAP, the parliamentary party of the PS asks the CMVM and TAP for a copy of the report of the administrative offenses process following the announcement about the departure of Alexandra Reis.

In the request, addressed to the chairman of the commission, deputy Jorge Seguro Sanches, the PS deputies ask for a “copy of the notice”, following a communiqué from TAP to the CMVM, when Alexandra Reis left the company , informing that the administrator was stepping down to face new challenges when her departure was forced and worth €500,000 in damages.

The deputies’ request signed today comes after TAP’s chairman of the board of directors, Manuel Beja, testified in parliament on Tuesday in TAP’s committee of inquiry that the Securities Market Commission (CMVM) has filed a lawsuit against the airline, alleging following the communication about the departure of former administrator Alexandra Reis.

The controversy began in late December, when Correio da Manhã reported that the then Secretary of State for Finance, Alexandra Reis, had received compensation of around €500,000 for leaving the TAP administration two years ahead of schedule, a case that led to a reshuffle in governmentincluding the departure of the former Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos.

“I received information about an hour before this hearing that the CMVM had opened a case against TAP,” Manuel Beja told PSD deputy Hugo Carneiro on Tuesday.

The still ‘chairman’ of the airline said he did not yet know the contents of the notification, because he received it when he was on his way to the Assembly of the Republic.

After the compensation of 500,000 euros received by Alexandra Reis was known, the former administrator explained in a note sent to Lusa that the departure was the result of an initiative by TAP. Later, the company sent a new communication to the CMVM confirming that the departure was voluntary.

Manuel Beja also stressed that the content of the first communiqué has been negotiated by the lawyers of both parties.
