Montenegro says he talked to Marcelo about “all things that matter”

After leaving Belém without answering journalists’ questions, Luís Montenegro, in an initiative in Guincho (Cascais), maintained “modesty” on the topics he addressed with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa during about 45 minutes of conversation, making sure that the “excellent personal relationship and great institutional respect”.

“I can assure you that all the issues that are important for Portugal today, from a social, economic and institutional point of view, were addressed in our conversation today and of course everyone told the other what he understood.he told journalists at the end of a journey by hydrogen bus from Cascais, in which he had the mayor, Carlos Carreiras, at his side.

When asked if he “convinced” the President of the Republic that the PSD is already an alternative to the government or if they were talking about electoral strategy or even if André Ventura joined the conversation, the answer was almost always the same and similar to the statement he had made at the Palace of Belém.

“There are areas of conversation that remain within the privacy of the institutional relationship between the president of the PSD and the candidate for the prime minister and the president of the republic,” he said, without wanting to read anything about his reception in Belém a day for the president of Chega.

Montenegro stressed that it was “a very relevant meeting”, which was planned “a long time ago” when the ‘Sentir Portugal’ initiative passed through the Lisbon district.

“The president of the republic is an unavoidable figure when it comes to understanding the feelings of the Portuguese,” he said.

After stating this morning that he is not just walking down the street to “get kisses and hugs”, the PSD leader was asked if he left Belém with a hug from the president.

“Certainly, we have an excellent personal relationship and great institutional respect for each other”he claimed.

At the end of a day that started at the Brandoa market, he had lunch in Cova da Moura with the Cape Verdean community and a visit to a natural park in Cascais, Montenegro made a very positive assessment of this trip from ‘Sentir Portugal’ in Lisbon, a initiative where you commit to spend one week per month in each neighborhood of the month, and that lasts until Friday.

“Indeed a full day, filled with different experiences, like all the experiences I have had in the countryside, and they give me a deeper knowledge and an approach to people’s reality and allow me to build an alternative,” summarized him together.
