Santos Silva emphasizes that parliament is open to the public

These references by former Secretary of State and Foreign Affairs Augusto Santos Silva about the afternoon of the national holiday on April 25 in parliament are contained in a video he recorded and published on his account on the social network Twitter.

“On Tuesday, we celebrate April 25 in the Assembly of the Republic, as we do every April 25. This celebration, as usual, includes a period in the afternoon when the doors of the Assembly of the Republic are open to all those who want to visit parliament,” he said.

Augusto Santos Silva later pointed out that it will be possible to get to know the parliament “from the inside, up close”, namely “the plenary chamber, the senate, the corridors, everything in the parliament that can be visited”.

“Parliament is the home of the Portuguese,” he stressed in his message, before referring to the program of commemorations scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Assembly of the Republic.

“We will have activities, with an emphasis on pedagogical activities, such as sowing carnations, or musical activities, including jazz or classical music. The doors open at 3:30 pm and close at 6:30 pm,” he specified.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic has issued an appeal to citizens in general.

“The doors are open to everyone, to families, to people of all ages, to those who visit parliament, visit their homes. Come and visit us,” he added.
