Enough wants to avoid violence in the demonstration against Lula’s presence

Chega’s leader signaled this Monday that measures are being taken to prevent violence during the demonstration against the Brazilian president’s presence in parliament and criticized other protests in the area, warning they could be “a powder keg” .

“We involve hundreds of people, volunteers and are in regular contact with the police and information authorities to ensure that there will be no violence during the demonstration, that all infiltrators who come to provoke disrespect or an attempt at aggression are be identified. , insult or violence against police or political authorities”he said.

André Ventura stated that the volunteers will be “dispersed in different areas of the demonstration, in permanent recording, to ensure that any less positive situation can be identified later by the authorities and properly dealt with”.

The leader of Chega also mentioned that a preliminary meeting had been held this morning in the Chamber of Lisbon between the municipality, the party and the police.

“Our demonstration is political, which wants to be heard and felt in a clear way in the country and in the world, but rejects any kind of violence and disrespect that can be provoked”he said.

Asked if he is aware of elements of Chega that may incite violence on social networks, Ventura said that “all elements found that could incite violence, against the Assembly of the Republic, against police forces, against journalists or against politicians” immediately reported to the authorities.

However, Ventura did not specify how many people have already been identified: “I have no knowledge, I am not the one who treats”.

Chega’s president also criticized the holding of other demonstrations in the same area.

“The Chamber of Lisbon, in addition to the risks that already existed, decided to strengthen a series of others and allow other demonstrations for a place previously secured by Chega for this demonstration”he said, warning against that “the gathering in the same place of the thousands of people who come to protest against the presence of President Lula, organized by Chega, and other counter-demonstrations, is a powder keg around the parliament”.

André Ventura defended that “the city government should have taken care of this because they had the time and the ability to do it”.

Traffic has already been closed in some streets next to the Assembly of the Republic and the PSP is erecting high railings and cement structures, Lusa discovered on the spot.
