“I think the PSD leader’s statement follows what his style has been in leading what is now the largest opposition party. Dr. to present ideas, because today the PSD has become a void of content,” criticized in statements to the Lusa agency, João Torres.
PSD leader Luís Montenegro opined today that the government is over and that it was PS president Carlos César who conceded when he asked for “some refreshment” in the socialist executive.
“It is regrettable that the leader of the PSD makes politics based on headlines,” he condemned, as Luís Montenegro used the statements of the president of the PS, Carlos César, in a “trimmed way”.
For João Torres, “it would be recommended that the leader of the PSD read the interview in its entirety and not just stick to the titles from which this same interview emerged”.
“The episode and incident that took place was unfortunate and must of course be regretted. Now the Prime Minister must speak when he understands it is opportune to do so and he must not do it every day, hour, minute or second, in the wake of of the parliamentary inquiry committee TAP”, he criticized.
According to the Socialist leader, “The Prime Minister must preserve and maintain a sense of state, which the opposition leader has clearly not shown since he took the leadership of the PSD”.
“And as such, the institutions must be respected and the Assembly of the Republic must be respected,” he defended.
According to João Torres, “The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into TAP is a very important tool for scrutinizing the government and the head of government, the Prime Minister, Dr. António Costa, would not be expected to comment every day on new developments, new documents, new facts coming to light, in connection with that same parliamentary committee of inquiry”.
“It is essential to underline that the government has in no way failed to make the parliamentary inquiry commission available, as is its obligation,” he stressed.
PS president Carlos César defended that the prime minister should assess whether or not there is a need for “some refreshment” in the government, as “more rigor and discipline” is needed to prevent cases like the one involving TAP.
