Catarina Martins says that even in the PS there are people who notice the vulnerability of the government

The BE coordinator, Catarina Martins, responded this Sunday in Porto to the suggestion of the PS president, Carlos César, to reform the government, pointing out that even among the socialists there are those who notice the government’s situation of fragility.

“I think even in the PS there are people who see that there is a situation of absolute fragility in the government and that it is therefore necessary to act,” the block leader said in statements on the sidelines of the Desobedoc festival. which she attended this Sunday at Cinema Trindade.

He also said, regarding Carlos César’s suggestion, that it was “really unsustainable for the Prime Minister to continue without speaking” after the latest controversies, recalling that “cases involving several ministers, which concern contradictions within the government, which concern the functioning of the government itself in a file, TAP, which has so often called the Prime Minister directly and which he therefore knows well, so that no one understands this silence”.

When asked if this was a strategic silence, Catarina Martins replied: “I don’t know if it’s strategic, but it’s bad strategy on the part of the country that the Prime Minister doesn’t explain when necessary”.

About the investigative committee the TAP proposed by BE stressed that it “shows that there is a series of decision-making processes in government that cannot be accepted in a government of a democratic country and in a state of law like Portugal that takes itself seriously”.

“What I fear is that TAP is a symptom of the way the government works. In any case, we should certainly do all the work in the TAP Commission of Inquiry (…) and that is why we have requested the computer content from the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, because we think it is important to understand everything that has happened,” said the State Secretary.

And he insisted: “It is essential that the Prime Minister speaks as soon as possible. We have a very fragile government, Minister João Galamba is in a very complicated situation, but he is not alone in this situation. It is not Understandably, the prime minister has nothing to say to the country.”

Catarina Martins explained that the request for access to the contents of former deputy minister João Galamba’s service computer before the parliamentary committee of inquiry is justified because it is “the only way to know whether or not an attempt has been made to to leave”. to the parliamentary committee of inquiry” and also to “ensure that the committee has access to all the information it needs to do its job”.
