The PSD believed that the Minister of Infrastructure cannot remain in office if it is confirmed that he wanted to withhold information from the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry to TAP about a meeting with the former chief executive of the company.
“We have just learned from the voice of his former adviser that the minister wanted to lie to the parliamentary committee of inquiry and omit relevant information,” said the PSD parliamentary leader, who deemed this “unacceptable”.
Speaking to journalists in the Assembly of the Republic, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento stated that “if that is the case, there are no conditions for him to remain in government”.
The cabinet deputy of the Minister of Infrastructure, Frederico Pinheiro, was fired on Wednesday for “conduct incompatible with the duties and responsibilities” inherent in the exercise of his functions, an official source confirmed to Lusa today.
In a note released to some media this afternoon, Frederico Pinheiro refers to having notes of the meeting between the PS, government advisers and the former TAP chief executive, the day before he was heard in parliament in January, and that “it was indicated that, in the event of a request from the parliamentary committee of inquiry, the notes would not be shared as it is an informal document”.
