PCP parliamentary leader Paula Santos defended this Tuesday that the essential “is not the entry or exit of ministers”, but “the answer to the problems of the Portuguese”, without answering whether she defends early elections.
Paula Santos reacted in parliament to the announcement of the Prime Minister, António Costa, that he does not accept the resignation of João Galamba as Minister of Infrastructure, a position that already deserved the disagreement on the part of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in an official message.
“As the PCP has said, the essential problem is not the entry or exit of ministers or secretaries of state, but the answer to the problems of the Portuguese: raising salaries and pensions, guaranteeing the right to housing or care.” health,” said Paula Santos.
Asked several times whether the PCP defends that the President of the Republic should dissolve parliament or dismiss the government, Paula Santos has never answered directly whether the party considers it more preferable to hold early elections or not.
“What is needed, what worries the people of our country, is whether it will manage to reach the end of the month (…) What we consider as a priority is to solve the problems that we have in our country and which are immense,” he repeated, to the various questions asked.
