For the chairman of the CDS, keeping the Minister of Infrastructure in office despite his resignation means “ignoring minimal ethics in politics”. And he calls again for the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic and the holding of early elections.
In a note sent to editors this evening, Nuno Melo comments on the events of the past few hours, assuming that “the regime has fallen to the bottom”.
“If the resignation of João Galamba was insufficient – the Prime Minister’s continuation in office means ignoring minimal ethics in politics,” he writes.
“The administrative situation is worse than before, in an increasingly dense quagmire. The permanent repetition of affairs and the total lack of status and sense of state of rulers degrades and dangerously undermines the credibility of democratic institutions,” it reads. .
For the centrist leader, the prime minister “puts the government on an unsustainable level”, confronting “the president of the republic, devaluing the concerns of Belém and the general perception of the country”.
