The president of the republic will break the silence and address the country at 8 p.m. on Thursday, reports SIC Notícias.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is expected to comment on the latest cases that have affected the government.
In recent days, João Galamba has been involved in a controversy with his former assistant Frederico Pinheiro, who was fired a week ago on the basis of information they were supposed to send to the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the political custody of TAP’s management.
The case involved charges against Frederico Pinheiro of physical assault at the Ministry of Infrastructure and the theft of a laptop containing classified information after he was fired.
The controversy intensified when the information and security service (SIS) intervened in the recovery of that computer.
João Galamba resigned on Tuesday, but the prime minister did not accept the request and chose to keep him in the government.
On the same day, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, expressed his disagreement with António Costa’s decision.
