The text will finally include “15 articles”, with an additional budget of 15,000 million euros over five years for the Ministry of the Interior.

Last adjustments before the passage in front of Parliament from October. The orientation and programming bill of the Ministry of the Interior (Lopmi), shortened by half compared to its initial version unveiled before the presidential election, will be presented this Wednesday to the Council of Ministers, we learned on Friday from a government source.

The text, of 32 articles during its first presentation in mid-March, will finally include “15 articles”, with an additional budget of 15,000 million euros over five years, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced at the beginning of August in a interview in Figaro.

Endowed with significant financial resources, it provides almost 8 billion for digital investments.

additional staff

The text includes, in particular, additional police personnel with the creation of 11 mobile force units and 200 new gendarmerie brigades to allow “the doubling of the police presence on the ground” from here in 2030, as President Emmanuel wishes Macron.

Consultations between rural elected representatives and prefects are due to take place in September to decide the location of the future gendarmerie brigades, the first of which is due to see the light of day in early 2023.

Of the force’s 11 mobile units, six will remain “permanently” in Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, Perpignan, Nice and Marseille – where two are already positioned – Gérald Darmanin told JDD in late August.
