The PSD chairman this Friday showed himself available to “interact with the liberal initiative”, even if he gets an absolute majority, reiterating that he is building a “political alternative”.
“One of those parties that we can communicate with, even if we have an absolute majority, I repeat, we do not do electoral accounting here, it is the liberal initiative,” said Luís Montenegro, on the sidelines of a visit to Pinhal de Leiria .
However, the Social Democratic leader admitted that “whether there is this majority in the future, whether there is not this absolute majority of mandates in parliament, it is clear that there are some political forces that have more affinity” with the goals of the social-democratic program Democrats.
“The will to govern Portugal is to build a political alternative that will inspire the confidence of the majority of the Portuguese people. We are already on our way to winning over the majority of Portuguese voters and in the trust space of the PSD and, by way of addition, most terms in parliament,” he said
With regard to the news that he was wrongly granted tax benefits while building a house in Espinho, Montenegro showed a willingness to clarify.
“I am completely calm. And I must also add that, in this spirit of tranquility, I am also available to be fully investigated, to be the target of any clarification, which is in my own interest, by the way. I want rule Portugal and I want to rule Portugal as I have always been in political action: with freedom,” he assumed.
The Social Democratic leader stressed that he does not intend “conditions of any order”.
“So ask all the questions you want. I am 100% convinced that I have complied with all the rules. I was not favored, let that be very clear, and I would not accept so little,” he added.

Requests explanation from Costa about SIS performance
This Friday, the PSD leader demanded an explanation from the prime minister of what he considered contradictions to justify the intervention of the Security Information Service (SIS) in recovering the former assistant to the infrastructure minister’s computer.
“The most notorious contradiction I found was with the Prime Minister’s version, on the one hand, who formally told the country that there had been diligent investigations by the information services leading to a robbery, for example. That had been communicated to the services,” said Luís Montenegro during a visit to the pine forest of Leiria.
According to the chairman of the PSD, “both the supervisory board and those in charge of the services say that they have not intervened in this perspective, because they have not identified this criminal event as the detonator before their entry on the scene”.
Montenegro considered it necessary “to understand and explain the contradiction between what was formally said in the Ministry of Infrastructure, through the voice of the leader of the government, and what appears to have happened in practice, which does not correspond”.
