Armindo Monteiro, who was already vice-president of the CIP, was elected president of the employers’ federation on March 30, with 87% of the vote, in the “largest participation ever” for the election of the confederation’s governing bodies, according to a report. statement released at the time. .
Until now, the CIP has been chaired by António Saraiva, who led the confederation for 13 years.
The new president of CIP has a degree in business management and since 2010 has been president of the Levon Group, developing its activities in the fields of engineering and construction, environment and services, IT, “advertising” and real estate management.
He was also a shareholder and chairman of the Softline company, between 1994 and 2010, and of the COMPTA Group, between 2007 and 2019, after leading ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs and ANETIE – National Association of Information Technology and Electronics Companies.
CIP – Confederação Empresarial de Portugal, according to a statement, represents 150 thousand companies, employing 1.8 million people and generating a turnover that represents 71% of the national GDP.
The confederation is part of the Economic and Social Council (CES) and the Permanent Commission for Social Dialogue.
