The Interior Minister this Friday showed himself available to be heard in the TAP Commission of Inquiry, stressing that he is “beyond being available” at the request of the Chega party.
“It is more than being available, it is an obligation. Because the Commission of Inquiry has the power to ask any responsible person in the administration for clarification”said José Luís Carneiro in Portimão, on the sidelines of the presentation of the Special Device for Combating Rural Fires (DECIR) 2023.
In the Algarve, the minister reiterated what he had already told journalists during the morning in Setúbal, confirming that he received a call from the Minister of Infrastructure on April 26, after putting João Galamba in touch with the national director of the PSP .
He also explained that what has been done since then is in the archives and in the prosecutor’s office.
“What I will say in the committee of inquiry is what I say here. There is no other fact I can give the Commission of Inquiry that I have not given here today.”he stressed, speaking to journalists in Portimão in the early afternoon.
On Thursday, during a hearing at the TAP Commission of Inquiry, João Galamba revealed that on April 26 he called the Interior Minister and asked to speak “very urgently with the PSP” about the “aggression and theft of a computer” at the Ministry of Infrastructure that were reported to him.
The case is related to the resignation of Frederico Pinheiro, that same evening, and concerns complaints against the former assistant for physical assault at the Ministry of Infrastructure and the alleged theft of a laptop computer, a matter under investigation by the Public Prosecution Service.
