Carlos Eduardo Reis (PSD) refuses to be a “useful idiot” to “overthrow two ministers”

PSD deputy Carlos Eduardo Reis said this Thursday he was unavailable to be the party’s “useful idiot” so that two ministers could be overthrown and an early election could be called.

At the meeting of the parliamentary bench, according to reports to Lusa, the deputy “for transparency and loyalty” addressed the reports issued Tuesday and Wednesday evening by TVI / CNN Portugal that say they were in the context of Operation Tutti Frutti intercepted wiretaps and communications suggesting an alleged “secret pact” between PSD and PS for each party to retain the leadership of certain parish councils in Lisbon in the 2017 municipal elections.

Before the deputies, he denied committing any illegality, said he had never been heard by the justice system and expressed discomfort that PSD parliamentary leader Joaquim Miranda Sarmento had raised the issue in Wednesday’s debate with the prime minister without having previously given “one word”.

“I will not be available to be the useful idiot let alone gory in the media because it is useful to remove two ministers from the government to have an early election,” he warned, pointing out that he is not saying that this is the intention of the PSD leadership.

In the reply, the PSD parliament leader believed that he had clearly separated what had to do with justice and politics, justifying that there was a case involving “the two largest parties of the regime, it would be incomprehensible that the PSD does not have the issue to the debate” with the Prime Minister.

The name of current deputy Carlos Eduardo Reis is mentioned in the report because he reportedly favored a company he owned at the time for the construction of a sports field. Speaking to TVI/CNN, the deputy had already denied the relationship with an alleged corruption scheme in the Lisbon Chamber: “I have never corrupted anyone,” he said.

First in a ‘tweet’ from President Luís Montenegro and then in the voice of General Secretary Hugo Soares, the PSD said on Tuesday that the party “will not tolerate any ethical or legal failure”. an alleged exchange of favors between the party and the PS in the 2017 municipal elections.
