PSD awaits Costa’s answers to ‘secret’ before evaluating other ‘parliamentary procedures’

The PSD parliamentary leader said on Wednesday that the party will wait for the prime minister’s replies on the implementation of the “secrets” before reviewing other “parliamentary procedures,” admitting that analysis may carry over into the next legislature.

At a press conference, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento presented the request that the party had sent to António Costa on Wednesday, with fifteen questions about the performance of the information services on the night of the recovery of the laptop of the former deputy of Infrastructure, including whether António Costa has steps “authorised, approved or accepted”.

“We hope that, in the interest of the country and the democratic culture, the Prime Minister will clarify once and for all what really happened that night and how the intelligence services acted,” he said, and hoped that these answers would come within the would be given shortly. a maximum period of 30 days, imposed by the Rules of the Assembly of the Republic.

When asked if this deadline will be the time limit for the PSD to proceed to a committee of inquiry on the subject – a scenario the party has not ruled out – Miranda Sarmento said only that “depending on the prime minister’s answers” the PSD will evaluate “what other parliamentary procedures may or may not bring about”.

As the deadline for the Prime Minister’s responses is at the end of June, the PSD parliamentary leader admitted that this assessment will take place as early as summer “in this legislature or the next”.

As for the question of how the PSD will vote on IL and Chega’s proposals to establish commissions of inquiry into the implementation of the “secret”, which will be debated and voted on June 14, Miranda Sarmento only promised not to vote against it, after allowing a favorable vote in the social-democratic parliamentary days (still insufficient if the PS is against).

“The PSD will decide on its vote on the 14th. We will not make these proposals unfeasible, which means it will not be a dissenting debate. There is nothing to prevent you from answering in the coming days,” he stressed.
